SHARON CHASE "I am back in treatment, and my hair was starting to fall out, so I made an appointment to have it shaved of. In a show of support, my husband got his head shaved as well and had the teal ribbon inked on the back of his head, and all my girlfriends had a streak of teal put in their hair. It was amazing." 2. TERRECE CRAWFORD launched a new career as a beauty advisor in the wake of her cancer journey. "I am a beauty advisor for Chanel," Terrece says, "and I love helping women look good— not just on the outside, but to know, most importantly, that they are beautiful on the inside!" 3. CISSY HASS (far right) and her best girlfriends, Angie Tarkenton, Sandee Crain and Kelley Bass, tried something new during a recent girls' trip to the mountains: on a whim, the four friends decided to visit a tattoo parlor and each have a purple (the color of pancreatic cancer awareness) heart tattooed onto their ring fngers in honor of Cissy's fght. ➌ ❷ ➊ ❹ 4. ANITA POPOVICH "My cancer diagnosis certainly gave me many new horizons. At 61 years old, I decided to retire from my job and spend time doing things I did not have a lot of time to do before. My faith led me to the Carmelites. As a volunteer at the Carmelite Monastery in Loretto, Pennsylvania, I greet visitors and work in the gif shop. Here, I am standing in front of the statue of St. Therese, outside the entrance to the monastery." cftSp#23vky.indd 48 2/3/14 11:18 PM
